Halong Bay
Fairy Lake Cave, also known as Ho Dong Tien, is one of the most captivating and pristine caves in Halong Bay. Stone Dog Islet, also known as Cho Da Islet, is a fascinating natural formation located in the west of Halong Bay, near Dau Go Cave and Thien Cung Cave. Towering 8 meters (26 feet) high, this limestone islet is shaped like a dog sitting with its back to the sea, resembling a protective guardian watching over the bay.
Located on Dau Go Island, Dau Go Cave is the largest and one of the most magnificent caves in Halong Bay. Scientific research suggests that the cave was formed around two million years ago, with an entrance measuring 12 meters wide and 17 meters high. Over time, the effects of the karst process have sculpted stunning stalactites and stalagmites into various unique shapes and sizes. Like many other caves in Halong Bay, Dau Go Cave is named after its appearance, “Dau Go” translates to “Wooden Stakes Cave.”
The name "Fighting Cock Rock" comes from the striking resemblance of two towering rock formations to a pair of roosters engaged in battle. These massive structures, standing proudly amidst the waters of Halong Bay, have withstood the test of time, serving as a source of inspiration for countless artists.
Located in the southwest of Dau Go Cave, Dinh Huong Islet is one of the most iconic limestone formations in Halong Bay. Just 6 km from Bai Chay tourist wharf and 4 km from Tuan Chau port, this majestic rock formation rises 10 meters above the water, resembling a giant incense burner.
Me Cung Cave is one of Halong Bay’s most fascinating attractions. Sitting 25 meters above sea level, its narrow, east-facing entrance leads to a mesmerizing world of twisting passages and hidden chambers, earning it the name “Me Cung” (Maze Cave).
Nestled to the west of Halong Bay, Soi Sim Island is a serene escape covering 8.7 hectares, with two lush hills rising to a height of 100 meters. The island gets its name from the “sim” plant (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), which once thrived here, adding to its natural charm.
